I think it’s time for a fun post.
What’s your favorite story…book, movie, or otherwise?
What if you could step into that story yourself?
Last night I watched part of a miniseries named, “Lost in Austen.” It’s Pride and Prejudice meets time travel fantasy. A modern-day fan of Jane Austen’s books discovers a portal into the past, finding herself smack dab in the world of her favorite tale. To her surprise, her presence has an effect on the storyline. All is not what it seems. This show is many Austen fans’ giddiest dream come true, delivering laugh-out-loud moments and breathtaking scenery.
So, I was wondering: what are your favorites? Would you step into them if you could? Would you change anything about the stories?

hmmmm, interesting question! My favorite storylines tend to center around some sort of controversy or suspense which makes for good entertainment, but not how I want to live my life.
)
BTW, this is sort of on-topic, but really not…growing up, I always thought that I was born in the wrong era. I should have been born in the 1800′s. See I have these massive thighs, but a very small waist so I needed those big hoop dresses to camouflage the thighs…how about that for warped sensibility!?!?! LOL! smiles…

Okay, that explains how I was in the room and didn’t understand why you were laughing at times. Granted I was little distracted by the youth ministry videos I was making on the laptop.

So many books, so little time! For a serious book, I always return to One Incredible Moment by Max Lucado. For fun, children’s books fascinate me. Hearing a school librarian read The True Story of the Three Little Pigs was hilarious. Agatha Christi books are always a fun, light read. There’s really too many to list, and it’s too hard to choose.

I love this post!
What a great fantasy to walk into my favorite book.
Well, it’s a given that number one would be Lord of the Rings, but that’s the easy answer.
Another would be the TV Series “Firefly”. It’s set 500 years in the future and on a spaceship called “Firefly”. The series was a prequel to the movie “Serenity”. I’d love to be a member of that crew.
How about Robinson Crusoe? And, of course, add me to the character list.
This was so fun. I’ve been trying to get comments on here for days, computer problems.
I think I’ll check out “Lost in Austen”. Did you see movie “The Jane Austen Book Club”?
Thanks Alison

Although I voted for Chronicles of Narnia, I must confess that movies have always held this attraction for me. I still long to step into The Sound of Music, Guys and Dolls, and anything with Cary Grant. (That last part is purely for oogling purposes, however.)

ooooh, Julie has a good point. I think that I could be happy in any Doris Day movie…

This is a great idea. I’d love to meet Mr. Collins, I wonder about him sometimes.
I’d like to step into the Stargate and see where it takes me.
I’d also like to visit Narnia.
I’d like to visit a world where the Cowboys played football like champs. Is that too much to ask?

Christi, I think I’ll join you in that 1800s world, though my waist isn’t tiny like yours!
David, I didn’t want to inflict the wicker humor on you that night. I know you have to put up with enough of it already. =) You’re always a good sport.
Mama Mia, I like children’s books, too. I’m glad you exposed us to libraries and literature while Sister and I were growing up.
GF, I haven’t seen JABC yet, but I have seen Firefly and Serenity; I really liked them! Do you watch Chuck? Jayne (Adam Baldwin) has a lead role that’s hilarious.
Julie, I’m with you, girl. Guys and Dolls is a top favorite.
And Will, I would love to be ringside to watch a meeting between you and Mr. Collins.
Now, what I’d like to know is why NO ONE has voted for Nacho Libre in the poll. Come on! Any takers?

What…no westerns on your poll? Pride and Prejudice but no westerns? This poll seems awfully biased.

I had to vote for Narnia because my children would throttle me if I didn’t, however I would love to see Pemberly.

Sarah, (whispering) I won’t tell the kiddos!
Okay, Dan, in your honor I’ll add Blazing Saddles. Or how about Three Amigos?
